It’s the most wonderful time of the year. The day that we get together as a pack and travel up to the local mountains and pick mistletoe. We’ll be meeting at the McDonald’s on Carson St. near Los Coyotes Diagonal at 8:00 am on Saturday, November 26th.
Here’s what you need to bring:
- chair or blanket
- warm clothing (pants are also recommended because of cactus)
- cutting tools
- pruning shears
- tree trimmers
- large trash bags
The location that we’re picking mistletoe is the same one that we’ve picked at for the last couple years. If you haven’t been there before, here’s some very detailed directions that will get you there.
From the McDonald’s on Carson St., head East to the 605 Fwy North. Take the 91 Fwy East to the 10 Fwy East. (Note that the 91 turns into the 215) Take the 10 Fwy East about 6 miles to the Orange St. exit (Hwy 38). Go 1/2 mile north to Lugonia (Hwy 38) and turn right. Follow Hwy 38 thru several little towns and up the mountain 26 miles to Glass road/7 Oaks Resort. Turn left on this road which is 1 mile past Camp Tahquitz. Follow it about 5 miles. We will be stopping to pick Mistletoe along the road at the stream.
